It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mr. Ma Wing Tak. Our senior member Mr. Ma Wing Tak (Iaido 6 Dan, Kendo 3 Dan) passed away on 9th September in Vancouver, Canada, at the age of 78. On behalf of all members of The Kendo Association of Hong Kong, China, I extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Ma's family. Mr. Ma Wing Tak made invaluable contributions to the development of kendo in Hong Kong. Back then, as a senior member of the Association, he represented Hong Kong in the World Kendo Championships four times (1976, 1979, 1985, 1988), including participating as a team member when Hong Kong made its debut at the 3rd World Kendo Championships held in the United Kingdom, a historic milestone for Hong Kong kendo. He was always willing to share his competition experience and actively promoted the development of the local kendo community, leaving a profound and lasting impact. Mr. Ma's extraordinary contributions to the Hong Kong kendo community will forever remain in our hearts. Let us remember this fellow Kenyu who gave so much to the cause of Hong Kong kendo, and may he rest in peace.
